This piece is a combination of two ideas; the first being a desire to take a traditional quilt block pattern, Tumbling Blocks, and mess with it. I wanted to open the tops and some sides of the blocks and have things spilling out. I was talking to Robin on the phone and we discussed what we (our small child) wanted for Christmas. I thought about it and said I wanted a small, heavy box and I didn’t want to know what was in it but that it might be something really, really special. “What?” “Unconditional Love!”. So here you have some of the boxes open and spilling out hearts of all sizes and colors.
