"Water Is Life"

I wanted to do a piece about what we are doing to our oceans and started by collecting pieces of plastic, bottles, caps, spoons, my old I.D. card, plastic holders for 6 pacs, etc. I then cut them up into usable pieces, and drilled holes in them so I could sew them onto the quilt. When the quilt was assembled and quilted, I layed all the bits and pieces on it, marked their location on a full scale pattern, and started beading, incorporating the plastic bits as I went along. The beads included several sizes, shapes and colors of seed beads and pearls, as well as abalone and heshi.
